What led to the disruption of the Atiku, Obi coalition meeting by delegates

A meeting of opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, was disrupted by some delegates in Abuja on Sunday.

A disagreement at Abuja Continental Hotel over who should represent the Jigawa State delegation reportedly led to a disruption at a meeting convened by the National Political Consultative Group, according to Punch newspaper.

A dispute arose when Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, revealed the name of a delegate to represent the delegation.

However, some state delegates disagreed with Mr Lawal’s choice, causing tension in the hall and bringing the proceedings to a halt.

Security personnel, including police and State Security Service agents, formed a protective barrier around Atiku, Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, and others following the outrage and tension.
