The Ogun State Police Command has verified the demise of Sunday Abidoye, whose corpse was discovered in a room at Creestar Hotel, Sagamu, on Wednesday, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
According to a release by the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Oluwole, alerted the authorities to the incident.
The details of the death are still unknown as investigations continue.
Odutola mentioned that upon notification, detectives inspected the scene to find the deceased’s body being readied for morgue transport in a car outside the hotel by his relatives.
Jimoh Godday, the brother of the deceased, informed the police that Abidoye had arrived in Nigeria from the United States on Saturday.
He mentioned that after calling Abidoye on Monday without getting a response, he chose to visit the hotel.
“After knocking on the door multiple times without an answer, he sought assistance from the hotel manager and obtained a spare key. Upon entering the room, they discovered his brother’s lifeless body,” he explained.
Various drugs and traditional medicines were reportedly found in the room, while the centre of the bed was soaked with a liquid-like substance.
A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, also confirmed that he had accompanied the deceased the previous day to purchase nine different types of medication, following complaints of illness.
The police spokesperson revealed that the deceased’s remains had been moved to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.
