President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a ten-day working visit to Lagos, where he engaged with key stakeholders and participated in a series of national events.
According to statement released by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President arrived in Lagos on Friday, September 26, following his attendance at the coronation ceremony of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During his stay in Nigeria’s commercial capital, President Tinubu held strategic meetings with leading investors, including Mr. Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Mr. Keem Belo-Osagie, former Chairman of United Bank for Africa and Etisalat, who now serves as Chairman of Metis Capital Partners.
The President also received the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, alongside the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and other top officials in the sector. In the meeting, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to positioning Nigeria’s maritime industry as a strong alternative to fossil fuel–based revenue.
Ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the President visited Imo State, where he commissioned several projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma. He also unveiled a book authored by the governor, which chronicles ten years of All Progressives Congress (APC) governance in Nigeria.
On Independence Day, President Tinubu addressed the nation in a broadcast delivered from the State House, Dodan Barracks, Lagos. He later inaugurated the newly renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, where he urged Nigerians to speak positively about their nation.
Rounding off his engagements, President Tinubu travelled to Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday, October 4, to attend the burial of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Plateau State APC Chairman. The President paid glowing tributes to the late matriarch and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fairness and equity among all religious groups in Nigeria.
The President has since returned to Abuja to resume official duties.
