Tinubu meets with Peter Obi, Fayemi at the Vatican

President Bola Tinubu was in attendance at the installation mass of Pope Leo XIV in Rome on Sunday, where he was joined by Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi and former Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Fayemi, having spotted President Tinubu among the other leaders, invited Obi to pay their respects, which Obi accepted.

Fayemi greeted the President by saying, “Mr. President, welcome to our church, and thank you for joining the Pope.” President Tinubu replied, “The welcome should come from me, as I’m the Head of the Nigerian Delegation, and I should be thanking you and Peter.”

The President’s remark elicited laughter from Obi, who concurred, saying, “Yes, indeed. We are members of your delegation.”

Peter Obi and Kayode Fayemi are both devout Catholics and have been honored with the title of Papal knights.
