President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional ,Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap.

The approval was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.
Under the new arrangement, Nwakuche’s tenure will now run until May 26, 2028, while Nandap is to office until June 30, 2028.

The extension followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to address a succession gap in the two agencies and provide their respective boards with sufficient time to appoint successors.

President Tinubu commended the two service chiefs for the reforms recorded under their leadership and urged them to consolidate the gains achieved so far.

The extension is expected to ensure continuity in the administration of both agencies while providing an orderly transition to their eventual successors
