Supreme Court is set to deliver its verdict today on four high-profile political cases involving the Four Rivers

The Nigerian Supreme Court is expected to deliver a ruling today, February 28, on four critical cases linked to the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, which could significantly impact governance in the state.

The pending cases before the apex court are: SC/CV/1174/2024 – Rivers State House of Assembly & others vs. Rivers State Government & nine others, SC/CV/1175/2024 – Rivers State House of Assembly & others vs. Rivers State Governor & nine others, and SC/CV/1176/2024 – Rivers State House of Assembly & others vs. Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) & nine others.

Other case to be determine SC/CV/1177/2024 – Rivers State House of Assembly & others vs. Accountant General of Rivers State & nine others.

This comes after the Supreme Court recently dismissed a related case, SC/CV/1071/2024, filed by the Rivers Assembly against the National Assembly and 16 others.
