Share 753 Emefiele houses to universities, others – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has proposed a use for the 753 houses in Abuja seized from Godwin Emefiele, former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Sani suggested distributing the 753 seized houses among polytechnics, universities, colleges of education and research institutes, noting that future generations of Nigerians would learn from the history of the buildings.

He wrote: “The 753 seized Houses in Abuja should be shared to all Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Research Institutes. It’s enough to go round.

“They can decide what they want to do with it. The future generation will learn from the history of the houses and appreciate the actions taken.”

In December 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, obtained the final forfeiture of an estate linked to Emefiele, following an order by Justice Jude Onwegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court to forfeit 753 duplexes.

The estate is said to be located in the Lokogoma district of the federal capital territory, FCT.

Following the ruling, the EFCC recently handed over the property to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development after it was forfeited.
