In a remarkable turn of events, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has extended an olive branch to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, signaling the end of their months-long rift.
The Kogi Central lawmaker formally invited Akpabio to Kogi State for a project commissioning ceremony slated for Sunday in Ihima, as part of activities marking her second year in the Senate.
The invitation, contained in a letter personally signed by Senator Natasha, was read aloud by Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session.
“In commemoration of my second anniversary as Senator representing Kogi Central, I warmly invite my Distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of constituency projects in Kogi State,” the letter read.
She further noted that the meeting point would be her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene. Lawmakers intending to fly in were advised to land at the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding by road to Ihima.
Responding after reading the letter, Akpabio offered his congratulations on the floor of the Senate a gesture that drew murmurs of surprise from colleagues aware of their previous tension.
This invitation marks a significant thaw in relations between both senators, who clashed earlier in the year over committee and seat allocations a dispute that culminated in Natasha’s six-month suspension on March 6.
Since her reinstatement on September 24, Senator Natasha has adopted a more conciliatory tone, participating actively in plenary sessions and occasionally engaging with the Senate leadership.
Her latest gesture, however, stands out as the most definitive sign yet that peace has returned — and that collaboration, rather than confrontation, now defines her relationship with the Senate President.
