Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s request to prosecute Senator Andy Uba, a former Anambra South Senatorial District lawmaker, on a two-count charge of alleged ₦400 million fraud.
The court has set the arraignment for February 18, 2025, based on accusations that Uba swindled George Uboh, leading to the police charges. Additionally, Crystal Chidinma Uba, Benjamin Etu, and a currently at-large suspect, Hajiya Fatima, are listed as co-defendants.
The accusations claim that in 2022, the defendants conspired to deceive the complainant by falsely promising the position of Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in exchange for ₦400 million, fully aware their claims were untrue.
This action is considered an offense under Section 8, punishable by Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
