The leadership of the 10th Assembly on Thursday approved the appointment of Mrs Olukemi Victoria Iyantan as one of the Commissioners in the National Population Commission (NPC), representing Ondo state, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Mrs Iyantan’s appointment was confirmed followed by consideration of the recommendation made to that effect by its committee on National Identity Card and National Population.
Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP Bauchi Central), Chairman Senate Committee on National Population and National Card Identity on Thursday recommended a report on Iyantan’s appointment.
While presenting Mrs Olukemi Victoria Iyantan’s case on the floor of the House, Senator Abdul Ningi said the appointment was approved based on the credentials made available to the committee and the public service pedigree of the presidential nominee.
“She deserved the appointment and should be confirmed by the Senate”, Senator Ningi said.
In his remarks after the confirmation, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin who presided over the session, admonished Mrs Iyantan to join other commissioners and Chairman of NPC, to move the commission forward.
