The Social Democratic Party has warned that President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies may hurt his re-election chances in 2027, citing unpopular decisions such as the removal of petrol subsidies, forex rate unification, higher electricity tariffs, and increased telecom tariffs, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Gabam urged the president to reassess his policies and possibly reorganize his cabinet if he aims to leave a lasting legacy over the next two years.
He also criticized the administration’s treatment of opposition voices, suggesting that if the government continues on its current path, it may as well amend the constitution to establish a one-party system.
Gabam denied allegations by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) offers N50 million bribes to opposition parties to undermine their leadership before the next election, stating that the SDP has not had any financial transactions with the Federal Government or its representatives.
