Rufus Giwa Polytechnic ASUP Gets New Executives

Newly elected executives of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, took their oath of office today.

The swearing-in ceremony of the Comrade Arikawe-led executives took place at the Adekunle Ajasin Auditorium, and was witnessed by many members of the union.

The event was preceded by a reelection of Comrade Arikawe for the second consecutive time by the union members.

The SAVANNAH NEWSNOW reports that other elected members are; Popoola Olukemi (Vice Chairman), Fapetu Damilola (General Secretary), Farabiyi Olatunde(A.G.S), Giwa Oluwamodupe(TREASURER),Amodu Stephen(WELFARE).

Others are; Ogunduboye Abiodun (PUBLICITY SECRETARY), Babalola Daudu(AUDITOR) and Ajayi
Ayorinde(FINANCIAL SECRETARY).

In his address at the event, Comrade Arikawe presented a review of his accomplishments over the past two years of his first term in office as chairman and expressed optimism that the new executives would achieve even greater success and tangible results.

The reelected Chairman of RUGIPO ASUP also expressed his gratitude to members for allowing him to serve them again, and promised to build on his past accomplishments.

“I appreciate the trust you have placed in us as the incoming duly elected Executive team of this union. We will do our utmost to build on the efforts and achievements of the last regime during which I served my first term as the Chairman”.

The newly elected Publicity Secretary of the union, Ogunduboye Abiodun, expressed gratitude to the Zonal coordinator and his team for a transparent electoral process, and also thanked union members and the institution’s management for creating an environment that allowed the elected officials to meet all ASUP constitutional requirements.

Ogunduboye emphasized that the new executives will operate based on established union principles and rules of engagement, in line with best practices and the provision of the Union s constitution. He expressed the Executives’ offer of olive branch to RUGIPO Management team and other stakeholders he described as partners on a common course of staff welfare, the smooth running and overall development of the institution. Hence, he anticipates a more productive collaboration towards advancing the institution.
