The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Rivers State has given the state’s Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, a 48-hour deadline to provide a detailed breakdown of key allocations in the 2025 budget, according to a report.
According to a report by The Guardian newspaper, House Majority Leader and Chairman of the committee, Mr Julius Ihonvbere, issued a directive today during a budget defence session in Abuja, questioning several allocations, including N24 billion for CCTV cameras at the state government house, N30 billion for gunboats, and N23 billion for contingency reserves.
The chairman noted that the committee had also observed and questioned the allocation of state funds to existing federal projects without an agreement with the Federal Government regarding refunds.
He instructed the administrator to submit the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), a legal document that should precede budget presentation.
Additionally, he requested details of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the last three months.
