Former Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio exhibited political bias and high-handedness in suspending Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Senator Abbo has questioned the legality of Natasha’s suspension and criticized Akpabio’s handling of the situation on Arise News’ PrimeTime show, drawing parallels with a past incident involving Akpabio and Senate President Bukola Saraki, which was resolved without suspension.
Abbo claimed that Akpabio’s actions, including suspending Natasha, withdrawing her security, and stopping her salary, were unfair and posed a significant threat to her safety, as they left her vulnerable to potential harm.
Abbo stated that taking away someone’s security is essentially putting their life at risk. He also pointed out that the Inspector General of Police acknowledged the risks involved.
Abbo pointed out that Natasha had obtained a court injunction blocking the Senate’s investigation into her alleged misconduct, but the Senate suspended her anyway, which Abbo saw as contempt of court.
He also criticized the court’s subsequent decision to lift the order, implying that the judge had acted out of fear.
Abbo described the planned recall of Natasha from the 10th Senate as a fraudulent attempt, stating that it would be impossible to successfully recall the suspended senator, and encouraged Natasha to continue her work, emphasizing that the recall effort was based on forged signatures.
