The cost of refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) rose by 3.23 per cent from N6,699.63 in September 2024 to N6,915.69 in October 2024 every month, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the price surged by 51.58 per cent from N4,562.51 in October 2023 every year.
The North-East had the highest average retail price at N7,319.03 for a 5kg refill, followed by the South-West at N6,961.58, while the North-West had the lowest at N6,703.95. Borno topped the state rankings with a price of N7,939.29 for a 5kg refill, with Yobe and Benue following closely. Katsina offered the cheapest rate at N6,270.00, with Zamfara and Delta slightly higher.
Additionally, the average price for a 12.5kg Cylinder refill increased by 2.58 per cent from N16,313.43 in September 2024 to N16,734.55 in October 2024.
The data further showed a year-on-year increase of 58.68 per cent to N10,545.87 in October 2023.
In terms of state analysis, Rivers had the highest average retail price for a 12.5kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinder refill at N17,895.00, with Osun and Benue following at N17,739.06 and N17,731.25 respectively.
On the other hand, Katsina recorded the lowest average price at N14,725.00, with Nassarawa and Adamawa at N15,390.55 and N15,474.21 respectively.
Zone-wise analysis indicated that the South-South had the highest average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg Cooking Gas cylinder at N17,114.67, with the South-East at N16,906.01, and the North-Central at the lowest with N16,411.19.
