Police Summon Osun Senator Over Alleged Threatening Comments Ahead of Governorship Election

The Osun State Police Command has reportedly summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over alleged comments in which he was accused of threatening members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state, SavannahNewnow Reports.

The invitation followed concerns raised over remarks allegedly attributed to the senator regarding the activities of Accord Party members and the forthcoming election.

According to reports, the police are seeking clarification from Senator Fadahunsi as part of efforts to prevent acts capable of threatening public peace or escalating political tension ahead of the poll.

The development comes at a time when security agencies have intensified monitoring of political activities across Osun State, with stakeholders repeatedly urged to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the election.

The alleged comments have reportedly generated controversy among political actors, particularly members and supporters of the Accord Party, who are said to have expressed concern over the safety of their members and supporters.

The police invitation is expected to provide the senator with an opportunity to clarify the context and circumstances surrounding the comments attributed to him.

Meanwhile, the police command has continued to caution politicians, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders against inflammatory statements, threats and actions that could undermine the peaceful conduct of the governorship election.
