The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nullified the suspension of Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT). The decision comes after the Abia State chapter of the PDP suspended Wabara for endorsing Governor Alex Otti for a second term.
In a statement, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba described the suspension as “reckless and unconstitutional,” stating that it violated the party’s constitution and failed to follow due process. He emphasized that, under Section 57 (7) of the PDP Constitution, no State Working Committee has the authority to suspend or discipline a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) without consulting the NWC.
Condemning the action, the NWC warned those responsible to retract their decision, stressing that disciplinary measures would be taken to uphold the party’s constitution and maintain stability.
