The Commissioner of Police, Ondo state, CP Wilfred Afolabi, has sued for peace amid the ongoing clashes between the youth of Oka Odo, Ebo, and Owake communities in Iwaro areas of Ondo state, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The CP urged all parties involved to put an end to the violence, warning that it would only lead to stagnation and underdevelopment in the affected areas.
The clash reportedly began on January 12th, 2025, when a group of youth from Oka Odo were allegedly attacked by youth from Ebo while on a hunting expedition.
A long-standing land dispute between Ebo and Owake youths led to a violent confrontation, with the Ebo youth mistakenly attacking individuals they believed were from Owake, prompting retaliation from Oka Odo youth, resulting in arson, casualties, and two deaths.
A police team has been deployed to restore peace and prevent further escalation.
