Ondo Govt Suspends 3 Officials Over Recruitment Scam
The Ondo State Government has suspended three senior officials of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for their alleged involvement in a recruitment scam linked to the recent employment of teachers. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ordered the suspension pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
The affected directors and a deputy director were accused of colluding with external collaborators to extort unsuspecting applicants, collecting between ₦500,000 and ₦700,000 for fake appointment and posting letters. The fraud came to light after excluded candidates staged a protest, only to be exposed during biometric verification for presenting forged documents.
In a statement, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, clarified that the protesters were not among the 2,000 legitimately recruited teachers already deployed across the state.
He confirmed that disciplinary measures had commenced against the indicted officials to safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process.
