The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of 27 students drawn from three public secondary schools in Akure, the state capital, over various acts of misconduct, SavannahNewnow Reports.
The affected students are from Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas College and CAC Grammar School, all located in Akure.
According to the ministry, the disciplinary action followed findings that linked the students to various forms of misconduct considered to be in violation of the rules and regulations guiding students’ conduct in public secondary schools across the state.
The ministry stated that the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice, stressing that the decision was taken to maintain discipline, uphold moral standards and ensure a safe and conducive learning environment in schools.
It reiterated the Ondo State Government’s commitment to promoting discipline and academic excellence, warning that acts of indiscipline, violence, bullying, cult-related activities and other forms of misconduct would not be tolerated in any public school.
The ministry also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor the activities of their children and collaborate with school authorities in instilling discipline and good character, emphasizing that education goes beyond academic performance to include sound moral upbringing.
