Ondo Government Reacts to Leaked Security Memo on Possible Terrorist Attack
The Ondo State Government has responded to a leaked security memo issued by the Department of State Services (DSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, warning of a possible terrorist attack in some parts of the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, confirmed that the government is aware of the memo, describing it as part of routine intelligence sharing among security agencies.
According to Ajanaku, such memos are regular intelligence assessments exchanged between security organizations to ensure proactive measures against potential threats.
He explained that these reports often contain varying levels of threat analysis and are designed to strengthen collaboration among security agencies for preventive action.
“The leaked memo is part of regular intelligence reports that are routinely shared among security agencies and the government. These reports are a normal part of security operations aimed at identifying and preventing potential threats,” the statement read.
He assured residents that the government and security agencies are already acting on the intelligence to ensure the safety of all citizens. Ajanaku urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, while promptly reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation.
“The government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is in constant contact with security agencies and has taken several proactive steps, especially in border communities, to keep Ondo State safe,” he added.
The Commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security, urging residents not to panic or resort to self-help but to cooperate with security operatives for effective surveillance and protection.
Ondo State, he said, remains one of the most peaceful and secure states in the country, thanks to the government’s continuous partnership with security agencies and community stakeholders.
