Ogun State Government Barred from Demolishing Gbenga Daniel’s Properties by Court
A High Court in Ogun State has issued an interim order stopping the state government and its agents from demolishing or tampering with properties belonging to former Governor Gbenga Daniel.
The court granted an ex parte order following an affidavit of urgency filed by Daniel and his wife Olufunke, stating that immediate intervention was necessary to protect the property pending further hearing.
In suit number HCS/371/2025, Justice O.S. Oloyede restrained the defendants, their allies, and proxies from carrying out any demolition, enforcing the quit notice issued on August 8, 2025, or interfering with the claimants’ possession of the properties.
The court also restrained the defendants from any form of trespass or disturbance of the claimants’ quiet possession until the hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice.
The matter was adjourned to August 19, 2025, for the hearing of the application for an interlocutory injunction.
Kayode Akinmade, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s spokesman, made the statement in response to Daniel’s claim that the state government planned to demolish his Asoludero residence and Conference Hotel in Sagamu Local Government Area under the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022.
Daniel alleged that the move was politically motivated, but Akinmade countered that Daniel was not above the law and had failed to present his planning permit and land title for verification within the stipulated time.
