Former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media alleging that he is critically ill or dead. In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by his media aide, Dr. Paul Nwosu, the former governor affirmed that he remains “hale and hearty” and in excellent health.
According to the statement, Obiano reassured his family members in Nigeria and abroad, as well as his friends, political associates and supporters, that there is no cause for concern regarding his wellbeing.
He attributed the rumours to individuals desperate for online attention, describing the act as “unthinkable” and mischievous.
The public was urged to ignore a misleading Facebook post that fueled the speculation.
Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, thanked those who expressed concern and reiterated that he is in good condition.
The statement concluded with a warning that those responsible for spreading the false report would face the consequences of their actions.
