The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially cleared the air on the authenticity of the NYSC certificate belonging to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
In a statement issued, the NYSC confirmed that Tunji-Ojo was initially mobilized for the mandatory one-year national service in 2006.
However, due to unavoidable circumstances, he could not complete the program at that time.
He was later remobilized in 2019 and successfully completed his service year with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Abuja.
The NYSC further clarified that the certificate issued to the Minister in February 2023 is authentic and valid, explaining that the delay in issuance was caused by a technical error within its system, which has since been resolved.
The clarification by the NYSC effectively puts to rest speculations and misinformation circulating on social media regarding the Minister’s NYSC status.
Following the clarification, several youth and civic organizations including the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC) and the Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) have reaffirmed the authenticity of Tunji-Ojo’s certificate. They also commended his integrity, leadership, and continued dedication to national service.
The groups described Hon. Tunji-Ojo as a reform-driven public servant whose leadership of the Ministry of Interior has brought about significant improvements in national security, public service delivery, and transparency in governance.
They further expressed their support for the Minister’s ongoing reforms, noting that his commitment to excellence continues to inspire confidence among young Nigerians.
According to the statement, “The youth of Southern Nigeria and Ondo State stand firmly with Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, recognizing him as a symbol of responsible governance and progressive change in Nigeria.”
