Northern lawyers condemn removal of CCT chairman

A group of Northern Lawyers have condemned the removal of Yakubu Danladi Umar as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, describing it as unconstitutional and illegal, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

They urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the executive arm to adhere to the law.

The lawyers, who addressed a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat in Bauchi, pointed out that the constitution clearly outlines the procedures for such removals.

A group of Northern Lawyers described the removal of Yakubu Danladi Umar, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, as illegal and unconstitutional.

The lawyers argued that the Senate’s action was flawed and untenable, and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the executive arm to act within the law.

The lawyers emphasized that the Constitution clearly outlines the process for removing the CCT Chairman, which requires presidential action and concurrence by two-thirds of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
