The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular Nollywood actress, Aunty Ajara, who passed away after a prolonged battle with liver disease, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Aunty Ajara, known for her diminutive stature and vibrant screen presence, had been battling serious health challenges for some time. Just last week, concern grew among colleagues and fans after fellow Nollywood practitioners publicly appealed for financial support to help cover the cost of her medical treatment.
Earlier in the week, her colleague, Mama Nonetwork, gave a heartbreaking update on Ajara’s condition, revealing that her health had continued to deteriorate despite efforts to stabilize her. In a further revelation that deepened public concern, Mama Nonetwork disclosed that the actress was pregnant.
According to her, Aunty Ajara’s pregnancy was discovered in December, and she was immediately advised to seek urgent medical attention due to her already fragile state of health. The combination of her liver condition and the pregnancy reportedly made her situation extremely delicate.
Sadly, despite the prayers, donations, and interventions from colleagues and well-wishers, news broke on Thursday morning that Aunty Ajara had passed away.
Her death marks a painful loss to Nollywood, especially among the grassroots actors who admired her resilience and dedication to her craft.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans, who remember her for her humour, simplicity and commitment to entertaining audiences.
