The Academic Staff Union of Universities has chosen Prof. Chris Piwuna, a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, as its next president.
He takes over from Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.
According to reports by Savannah Newsnow, Piwuna’s election was ratified at ASUU’s 23rd National Delegates Congress, which took place in Benin City, Edo State, on Sunday.
He won against Prof. Adamu Babayo of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
The new president will lead ASUU for the next four years.
