NCCA grounds private jet operator over emergency landing on delta highway

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has commenced an investigation into the emergency landing of a privately operated aircraft on a highway near Asaba, Delta State and has consequently grounded the aircraft while suspending the operator’s permit pending the outcome of the probe, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

According to the aviation regulator, the aircraft made an emergency landing on the highway after reportedly missing its intended route. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, drew widespread attention and raised concerns over aviation safety and compliance with established operational procedures.

In a statement, the NCAA disclosed that preliminary findings revealed the aircraft operator departed the scene without obtaining the necessary approval from aviation authorities, an action the agency described as a serious violation of regulatory requirements.

The authority stated that the operator’s permit has been suspended with immediate effect, while the aircraft has been grounded to allow investigators carry out a comprehensive assessment of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The NCAA emphasized that safety remains its top priority and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the emergency landing and establish whether all applicable aviation regulations were adhered to.

No casualties were reported in the incident and authorities are expected to release further details as the investigation progresses.

The outcome of the probe could lead to additional sanctions if regulatory breaches are confirmed.

The NCAA reiterated its commitment to enforcing strict safety standards across Nigeria’s aviation sector and warned operators against actions capable of compromising public safety or undermining regulatory oversight.
