His deputy, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, was subsequently appointed as the new Speaker. Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1, has had a distinguished political career, serving as Chief Whip and Deputy Speaker of the House.
Her background includes experience in various roles, such as Senior Special Assistant and Supervisor for Health at Apapa Local Government.
