Lagos State House of Assembly members removed Speaker Mudashiru Obasa from office on Monday, January 13, 2025, due to multiple statutory and financial infractions, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
His deputy, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, was subsequently appointed as the new Speaker. Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1, has had a distinguished political career, serving as Chief Whip and Deputy Speaker of the House.
Her background includes experience in various roles, such as Senior Special Assistant and Supervisor for Health at Apapa Local Government.
Her legislative career started in 2015 and has been a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly ever since. The appointment of Meranda as Speaker following an impeachment marks a significant turning point in Lagos State politics
