On Tuesday, the House of Representatives witnessed a significant shift in political allegiance as six lawmakers from Delta state defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Two more members from Enugu State have defected from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defections through separate letters from the lawmakers.
The six defectors from Delta State are Victor Nwokolo, Julius Pondi, Thomas Ereyitomi, Nicholas Mutual, Ukodhiko Jonathan, and Nnamdi Ezechi, while Enugu State’s defectors are Mark Obetta and Denis Nnamdi.
They all cited unresolved party crisis and parallel leadership as reasons for their decisions.
However, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former governor Ifeanyi Okowa left the PDP for the APC about a fortnight ago.
