Major defection in Kano as ex-Kwankwaso ally Yunusa Adamu Dangwani joins APC

Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, a former close associate of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and a key figure in Kano politics, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dozens of former Peoples Democratic Party members joined the ruling party in a defection ceremony in Kano, led by Abdullahi Abbas, Kano State APC Chairman.

“I am aligning with a party that I believe has the structure, leadership, and resolve to fulfill its promises to Nigerians,” Dangwani declared at the event.

Dangwani’s defection is a significant setback for the NNPP in Kano due to his previous association with Kwankwaso, the party’s national leader.

The APC is expected to receive a strategic boost in its grassroots mobilization and northern outreach through his defection.

APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas welcomed the defectors, promising them equal opportunities and full integration into the party’s structures in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
