The Labour Party has disowned Kenneth Okonkwo, its former Presidential Campaign Council spokesman, stating he is no longer a party member, following his public resignation citing internal leadership crises that would harm the party’s chances in the 2027 elections, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
LP’s National Secretary, Umar Farouk, dismissed Okonkwo’s exit, stating that the actor-turned-politician had already resigned from the party last year and was merely seeking attention with his recent public statements.
Farouk criticized Okonkwo’s inconsistent political affiliation, pointing out that he had been a member of APGA, PDP, and APC. Farouk suggested that Okonkwo return to Nollywood, stating that he was not a skilled politician and did not deserve to be in any political party.
Okonkwo’s latest resignation has escalated tensions with the Labour Party leadership, which has made it clear that it no longer recognizes him as a member, following his earlier departure from the party due to a lack of confidence in Peter Obi’s leadership.
