Kano State Governor Abba Yusif has reaffirmed his loyalty to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor and NNPP national leader.
Yusuf reaffirmed his loyalty to Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People’s Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, while speaking with 484 local government councillors from Kano’s 44 LGAs at the Government House on Sunday.
The governor vowed to follow Kwankwaso’s political path, saying his supporters would follow wherever he went politically.
Yusuf’s comments came as several politicians defected from opposition parties to the APC, sparking rumors that some governors may soon join the ruling party.
The governor also urged councillors to serve as a bridge between the government and the grassroots by identifying pressing community needs for immediate attention.
“You are the eyes and ears of government at the grassroots. Go back to your wards, listen to the people, and present their most urgent needs. Once you do that, we will act,” Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, quoted his principal as saying in a statement.
The Kano governor disclosed that the state has allocated almost N5 billion for ward-level projects aimed at addressing pressing community infrastructure issues such as classrooms and drainage.
He emphasized the need for sincerity, transparency, and dedication to ensure that funds are utilized effectively for projects that directly benefit the people.
