Kano lawmaker Zubairu Hamza Massu dumps NNPP for APC

Alhaji Zubairu Hamza Massu, a member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Sumaila constituency, has formally switched allegiance from the New Nigeria’s Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In his resignation letter to the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ismail Falgore, Massu announced during Monday’s plenary session that he was quitting the NNPP due to internal conflicts, factional disputes, and ongoing lawsuits.

Massu expressed frustration over the leadership tussles in the NNPP, citing Dr. Suleiman Hashim Dungurawa and Senator Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa as rival claimants to the state leadership, and Dr. Ahmed Ajuji and Dr. Agbo Major as contenders for the national chairmanship.

He stated that the ongoing legal battles were weakening the party’s structure and operations, leading him to join the APC, where he pledged his full loyalty to its leadership at all levels.
His resignation from the NNPP and defection to the APC takes effect from May 12, 2025.
