Kaduna gov reinstates revoked lands by El-Rufai to late Abacha’s family

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has reinstated two plots of land to the family of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, two years after they were revoked and seized by former Governor Nasir el-Rufai, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

The Abacha family’s two plots of land, situated at No. 9 Abakpa GRA in Kaduna and No. 1 Degel Road, Ungwan Rimi, GRA, Kaduna, have had their Right of Occupancy revoked and seized by the Kaduna State government, as disclosed by the family’s lawyer, Reuben Atabo (SAN).

The Kaduna State government had published a newspaper advertisement on April 28, 2022, announcing that the former governor had revoked titles to plots of land in Kaduna metropolis due to various contraventions of terms and conditions of Right of Occupancy.

The name of a former military ruler was listed as number 34 for revocation. However, Governor Sani later reinstated the titles in two letters dated December 10, 2024, and asked the title holders to pay outstanding ground rent fees.

The letters were addressed to Mohammed Sani Abacha, through the family counsel, R.O Atabo, SAN & Company.
