JUST IN: Witness for Okpebholo admits to over-voting at Edo governorship tribunal

The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal took a dramatic turn on Monday, February 10, 2025, as a key witness for Governor Monday Okpebholo faltered under intense questioning by the petitioners’ lawyers, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, are disputing Governor Okpebholo’s win in the September 21, 2024 election, with a key witness, Usman Majek, admitting to over-voting in the election.

The unexpected confession shook Okpebholo’s legal team, prompting his lawyer to suddenly conclude his case after calling just one witness, catching the All Progressives Congress (APC) legal representative off guard and forcing him to request an adjournment to regroup, which the tribunal granted, postponing proceedings until Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
