Nigeria has lost one of its most respected Christian leaders, Evangelist Uma Ukpai, who passed away at the age of 80.
The sad news of his death was confirmed on Monday, marking the end of an era for a man whose ministry spanned decades and touched millions across the globe.
Evangelist Ukpai, founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association Incorporated, was celebrated for his powerful crusades, faith-based teachings, and humanitarian works that impacted countless lives both within and outside Nigeria.
Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Ukpai devoted over five decades to spreading the gospel and mentoring Christian leaders. His ministry was particularly known for its emphasis on healing, deliverance, and national revival.
Tributes have begun to pour in from church leaders, government officials, and followers who described him as a “true soldier of Christ” and “a voice of hope to generations.”
