Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, has addressed rumors that he might run alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 election.
Obi indirectly addressed the claims while speaking at a public event in Kubwa, Abuja, where he made donations to a school and hospital project run by the Anglican Church.
“You can make of the report what you want, but I’m in a coalition against bad governance, hunger, and poverty,” he stated.
His comments come after media reports surfaced earlier in the day claiming Atiku proposed a power-sharing deal where Obi would be vice president on a joint ticket, with Atiku allegedly offering a one-term presidency and willingness to formalize the agreement in writing.
According to reports, the alleged offer was made during a private meeting between the two men in the UK earlier this year, with sources close to the discussions claiming Obi was receptive to the idea but sought to consult his core supporters before making a public decision.
