The National Assembly has postponed its resumption date from the Sallah and Easter breaks to May 6, 2025, a week after the initially scheduled date of April 29, 2025.
The Senate and the House of Representatives had on March 27, 2025, adjourned plenary to April 29, 2025 for Sallah and Easter break .
However, about eight days before the previously scheduled resumption date, both Chambers announced a one-week postponement through the Clerk to the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, to enable Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members to observe May 1, Workers’ Day, with their constituents in their various constituencies.
The Clerk of the National Assembly issued a personally signed statement on April 21, 2025, informing Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public that the resumption of plenary sessions has been postponed from Tuesday, April 29, 2025, to Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
“This extension allows Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members to participate in the Workers’ Day ceremony and attend to other engagements in their constituencies.
“Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public are invited to take note of the new resumption date.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding”.
