Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mojisola Meranda has denied reports that she has stepped down.
This was made known by her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, on Wednesday.
“I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” Ajiboye said in a chat with PUNCH Online.
A report published online on Wednesday claimed that the Speaker had stepped down, while a circular supposedly issued by Meranda on February 17, 2025, had been circulating for two days, stating that she had resigned.
However, verification of the letter circulating on social media revealed that it lacked any signature.
The Lagos Assembly has been embroiled in a leadership crisis since the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru by a majority of lawmakers.
