JUST IN: Court delivers judgement on Obasa’s impeachment as Lagos Assembly speaker

The Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has ruled that the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly is unlawful, unconstitutional and therefore null and void, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

On Wednesday, the court delivered its verdict, declaring that all legislative proceedings and resolutions made on January 13, 2025, the day Obasa was removed, are invalid.

Obasa successfully argued in court that his removal as Speaker was done without following due process, having taken legal action against the Assembly and Mojisola Meranda, who took over as Speaker.

The judgment not only restores Obasa to his position as Speaker but also effectively nullifies all decisions made by the House during the disputed session, dealing a significant blow to the attempted leadership change.
