Aisha Achimugu, a prominent businesswoman and socialite, was arrested by EFCC operatives at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Aisha Achimugu was arrested by the EFCC in the early hours of Tuesday at around 5:00 a.m. shortly after arriving in Nigeria from London, with her legal team confirming in a statement that she had returned to the country voluntarily.
Achimugu has been listed as wanted by the EFCC for over a month due to allegations of money laundering and other financial crimes. The commission had previously published her name in its bulletin, seeking individuals for questioning.
The arrest came after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a court order requiring her to appear before the EFCC, with a directive to present herself to investigators on April 30, 2025, to answer questions regarding an ongoing fraud investigation.
As of the time of this report, the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement regarding Achimugu’s arrest or the specific charges he may face.
