Olujimi Adekanle, popularly known as JAF, a strong supporter of the Ondo State Governor and a prominent Canadian-based political activist, has urged the People’s Democratic Party in the State to concentrate on revitalizing the party rather than wasting energy on futile social media engagements.
Adekanle cautioned Honourable Peretei, the PDP spokesman in the State, to refrain from demonstrating ignorance under the guise of representing a defunct political party.
It will be recalled that SAVANNAHNEWNOW reports the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is demanding the immediate removal of the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Isaac Omowunmi, due to the alleged discrepancies found in the state’s 2025 budget, particularly the unexplained N11.5 billion security vote allocated to the Ministry of Finance under her leadership.
The party also challenged the N250 million Sitting Allowance in the Ministry of Finance, as stated in a release signed by Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, the state Publicity Secretary of the party, and made available to journalists in Akure on Monday.
Responding, Adekanle challenged the allegations, rejecting Peretei’s claims and criticizing his narrow grasp of the budgetary process.
“It’s shameful that the PDP, having ruled the state for many years, still doesn’t understand that the Finance Commissioner plays no role in preparing the state budget,” Adekanle, stated.
“To clarify, the Ministry of Budget and Planning bears sole responsibility for preparing and presenting the state budget, and as Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowunmi Isaac has no direct role in formulating budgetary allocations, rendering any allegations of budget padding entirely false.
“After thoroughly reviewing the state budget and consulting with experts who understand budget presentation, I firmly believe that it’s unnecessary to dwell on it further, as it remains one of the best budgets ever presented by any governor in the state.”
Adekanle urged the PDP and those hindering the state’s progress to avoid politicizing its economic development.
He emphasized that budgeting is a vital economic policy tool for the government, essential in achieving economic prosperity for its citizens.
Adekanle urged the critics to cease their attacks on the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, who is doing a commendable job in the state.
