INEC Receives Sensitive Materials for Ondo South Senatorial Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials ahead of the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, SavannahNewnow Reports.

The arrival of the materials in Akure marks a major step in the commission’s preparations and signals its readiness to conduct a credible, free, fair, and transparent election across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

Representatives of political parties on Wednesday inspected the sensitive election materials stored at the custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Alagbaka, Akure.

Those present at the inspection included the Ondo State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Adefemi Oladoyin Taiwo, as well as representatives of the BOOT Party, APP and APM.

The inspection exercise was aimed at ensuring transparency in the handling and distribution of election materials ahead of the poll.

The bye-election is being conducted to fill the vacant Ondo South Senatorial seat following the appointment of former senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

INEC has assured stakeholders of its commitment to delivering a smooth electoral process, with all necessary arrangements being put in place for Saturday’s election.
