The Council of Imams and Ulamas in Kaduna has lambasted the Nigerian Senate over its choice to deny the confirmation of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as minister, Savannah News Reports.
Senate had on Monday, August 7, denied the confirmation of El-Rufai over pending security checks.
Petition was raised against the former governor regarding security, unity and national cohesion when he appeared for screening on the floor of the Senate.
The Council of Imams at a news conference held in Kaduna yesterday, August 10, described the Senate’s decision as “politics of vendetta” and “abuse of power” against El-Rufai.
The Imams urged the Senate to do the needful and clear El-Rufai as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
