IGP appoints new Police commissioner for Rivers, other states

Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Olatunji Disu as the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State.

Police boss has equally approved seven senior police officers to manage various commands as part of ongoing efforts to combat crimes in the country.

The senior police officers will be redeployed immediately, according to the statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer.

Disu will be replacing CP Nwonyi Emeka, days after Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State accused some police officers of attempting to kill him.

Disu’s appointment comes barely seven months after he was promoted alongside thirty-two others from the rank of deputy commissioner of police to commissioner of police and was subsequently appointed by the IGP as his principal staff.
