Gunmen kidnap Kogi monarch

The district head of Bagaji Odo community in Omala local government area of Kogi state, David Wada, has been kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen.

The monarch a second class traditional ruler who was returning from a traditional council meeting in Abejukolo, headquarters of the Omala local government area was abducted at Ojuwo Ugweche under gun point and was forced into the bush.

A source said the incident happened around 5pm on Monday as he was moving to his community on okada.

“They were ambushed at a dangerous Ugweche spot , and forcibly commandeered into the bush while the rider escaped by the whiskers,” the source said.

When contacted, the paramount ruler of the local government, the Onu Ife, Boniface Musa, confirmed the incident and appealed to the security agencies to ensure his safe rescue.

The police public relations officer, SP Williams Aya said his men have mobilised hunters, vigilante and state actors to comb the bush for his release.
