Suspected kidnappers on Tuesday attacked a church in Uso community, abducting five worshippers during a service session.
The incident occurred in Uso, a town in Owo Local Government Area, along the Akure–Owo highway in Ondo State.
The attack reportedly caused widespread panic among residents and motorists in the area.
According to sources within the community, the armed assailants stormed the church premises while activities were ongoing and forcefully took five congregants to an undisclosed location.
One of the victims was said to have escaped shortly after the abduction, though circumstances surrounding the escape were not immediately clear.
As of press time, the name of the church and the identities of the victims had not been officially confirmed.
Security agencies were yet to issue a formal statement on the incident, but efforts to obtain official confirmation were ongoing.
