Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed that he is not eager to return to office, as stated at the service of songs for late elder statesman Edwin Clark in Port Harcourt on Sunday, May 11.
Fubara pushed back against speakers at the event who addressed him as ‘Governor’ and denounced his suspension, instead describing their comments as personal opinions.
“Not everything is by oshogbe,” he cautioned, hinting at his preference for a more strategic and less confrontational approach to the ongoing political crisis.
“Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit has already left there,” he said
Fubara cautioned that while some actions by his supporters were well-intentioned, they had ultimately exacerbated his situation.
He urged attendees to focus on honoring Edwin Clark, who dedicated his life to advocating for the Niger Delta region, rather than politicizing the event.
President Tinubu had suspended Gov Fubara, his deputy, and State House of Assembly members for six months on March 18 due to the political crisis between Fubara and his godfather, former governor Nyesom Wike.
