The All Progressives Congress (APC) is in search of a new national chairman after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Savannah News learnt.
Adamu tendered his resignation letter from the position on Sunday morning.
He was elected as the party’s chairman in June 2021 after the party convention.
Adamu cited health reasons and personal issues as the reasons for his resignation.
Savannah News feelers from the Villa confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leader of the party has already picked his preferred successor for Adamu.
The name that has been mentioned is that of immediate past Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje, served as the governor of Kano from 2015 to 2019. He was reelected for a second term in 2019, despite facing allegations of corruption and bribery.
Ganduje’s name has not been officially confirmed by the president. There are also numerous contenders for the position of national chairman of the party.
